Web Directory Traffic 101
What Is A Web Directory? A web directory is just like the yellow pages but online. It organizes web sites into categories by subject. Easy Action Steps #1. Go to Google and type in "web directories" in the search box. #2. Click on any of the search results. #3. Now the first thing that you do at any web directory when you are looking to submit your site is to go to the category that best suits your business. NOTE: Some web directories are free, while others have a small fee. We don't recommend that you actually pay for listing with any of the Directory sites. There are so many free ones out there, that it'll take you awhile to get through all of those first. #4. When adding your site to the directories, you'll want to use varying titles (headlines) and descriptions. We recommend coming up with at least 10 (more is better) variations of title/descriptions for your business to use. By slightly changing the title and description you'll get better results from your efforts. Also, use your LCP URL as the page you want people to visit when clicking on your link. Remember, the goal is to generate a lead here. Sending your prospect to any other web page is a complete waste. So send them to your LCP everytime! #5. After you've submitted your site to all the ones from your Google search, go to Yahoo, MSN, LookSmart and do a web directory search with them just like you did with Google. They'll give you even more web directories that you can submit to. Web directory submission IS NOT an instant traffic solution. Sometimes your submission will be approved in just a week or two, other times, it can literally take months for your submission to be accepted. So you'll want to submit to hundreds of directories all across the web. The reason is because each submission is actually reviewed by a human being and not a software program. While not the best traffic generation method available, if you're on a very limited budget, it's better than nothing. The REAL Secret to Super Sales and Recruiting If you want to be very successful with your business, then it is extremely vital that you understand the buying process and what goes on in the mind of your prospects. The sooner you understand and ingrain it into your mind that people buy based on emotions and justify their purchase with logic, the faster you'll put money into your bank account. And if you want to tap into your prospects emotional side (a good thing) then you'll want to pay close attention to today's section of the Mini-Course because we're going to show you how you can tap right into your prospects deep desires and hopes. Put simply, Features are the facts about your product(s), service or business. Things like: how your product looks, it's color, size, weight, how long your company has been in business, that they're debt free etc.. Features do very little to stimulate your prospects emotions. Benefits of the other hand are what your product(s), service or business can do for them. It's the result that you can give that is the real benefit that your prospects are looking for. Right now as I'm writing this for you, I'm drinking this health drink that contains 500mg of Acai Berry, 500mg of Mangosteen Pericarp, and 500mg of Goji Berry in it. Exciting huh? So you'll buy 2 bottles right? What do you mean you aren't sold yet? Well of course you aren't sold on this drink yet because you don't know what the benefits of these 3 ingredients are. SIDE NOTE: If you do know what those 3 ingredients are and what they do, and you're reading this in excitement and curiosity, the reason you're feeling that way is because you ALREADY know what the benefits of those three ingredients are and what they do for your body and health. I'm not sure that you caught it, so I'm going to repeat myself here because it's that important for you to understand. The reason that someone who reads those 3 ingredients and gets excited is because they already know what these ingredients DO. In short, they've already been educated about the benefits of the ingredients. That’s called a "PRE-qualified and educated prospect" and they're the best because you don't have to do any selling. Just show how your product is superior to anything else that they can get and you'll most likely have a sale/recruit. You see, Benefits are the specific advantages that your product or service can offer your customer. Benefits show your prospect what's in it for him. It also creates a link between your product or service and his wants and desires. Essentially, benefits stir the emotional desires in your prospect and connect him with what you're selling -- whether a product, service or your biz opp. Remember that features are bland and boring, it's the benefits that are exciting and sexy. Okay, having said all that, keep in mind that it is still important for you to list out some of the pertinent facts about your product or service because people buy on emotion but justify their purchase with logic (features). The easiest way to uncover the secret benefits of your product or service is to grab a pen and a sheet of paper and make a list of every feature that your product has, and then turn each of those features into a benefit. The best way to unlock the benefits is to know your product. Ie. Be a product user yourself. After you've listed all of your features, look at each one and ask yourself: "What result will I get from this? What specific advantage does this offer me? How can this make my life easier and/or more rewarding?" NOTE: You can NEVER have enough benefits listed. So take a look at your product or service and make a list of all of it's features, it's okay to look at your company literature and marketing material and "swipe" ideas from them, just be sure to transform all of those features into benefits and results. REMEMBER: If it's about you, your product/service or business... then it's a feature. If it's about your prospect, a result or experience... then it's a benefit. And with each feature, always ask yourself: "And this means..." That one simple question can unleash a goldmine of deeply hidden benefits that you would otherwise never think of. And don't forget that you can incorporate your products/services/biz opp's main benefit into your headline as well. Taking the time to delve deep into your features and turning them into exciting benefits can (and usually does) mean the difference between average marketing (and sales/recruiting results) vs. stellar marketing and results. The Secrets to Creating Eyeball Grabbing Headlines Today we're going to talk about your "front page" of your website, which is your LCP. This is the first page that your prospects will see when they come to your website. HOWEVER, before you can start writing effective headlines and ad copy for your LCP, it is extremely important for you to understand EXACTLY WHO you are writing to/for. So first off, you MUST choose a target prospect to go after. Going after everyone will NOT work because your efforts will be too dispersed and not focused enough. And the reality is, you don't have the budget to go after everyone on the planet. So, the smart thing to do is focus on a small group of prospects and direct all of your efforts and resources marketing to them first and as your business and profits grow - expand your marketing and recruiting efforts to other niche prospect groups. What you want to do is select and identify who your ideal customer is and what their big problems are that your product, service or business can solve for them. In doing this, you want to be on the lookout for what their hot buttons are (ie. what is it they are suffering from? What keeps them up at night?) - by knowing what troubles they have, you'll be able to create powerful marketing messages and offers that speak directly to them. Let's move on to THE most important part of your ad - the headline. You've got about 3 seconds to get your prospects attention. With just 3 seconds, you had better have a great proposition for him. The reason the headline is so important is because it is what your prospects see and read first. If the headline doesn't engage your prospect, doesn't pique their curiosity, or offer them a big benefit then you've lost them forever. If your headline doesn't jump out and gain your prospects attention, then they will simply click away and move on to the next site... Which of course is NOT what we want to have happen. Now I'm not going to go into super detail here because we cover more advanced techniques in the copywriting part of our "10 Leads A Day" Internet Marketing Course. (Opening Wednesday, February 27th, 2008) We will however do, is lay the foundation so that you can immediately begin writing great headlines. It is worth spending a lot of time creating a number of different headlines (as many as you possibly can) so that you can test as many headlines as possible in order to see which one resonates the most with your prospects. You'll know which headline resonates most with your target market because it will bring you the best results (most amount of leads) because you'll be tracking everything. Headlines should present a benefit to your prospect, or promise something extraordinary, something that makes your prospect go "YEAH RIGHT!" When writing your headline, don't be afraid to be bold and outrageous. Now listen, you don't want to lie, but if you can make it outlandish and outrageous, to the point where your prospect is saying "no way!" or "how is that possible?" When you get a response like that from your headline, it will compel your prospect to read the rest of the information. And that's exactly what you want them to do. Think National Enquirer, or men and women's magazines like Men's Health, Maxim, and Cosmo for example. By the way, as I mentioned above, you can incorporate benefits into your headline. In fact, when just beginning it's the best, safest route to take. Simply write the headline to speak to your prospect and tell them what's in it for them. What benefits they'll get from the product/service, etc... We'll be talking benefits and features tomorrow (so be sure to check back). Without a strong, compelling headline, the rest of your information doesn't matter because no one will ever get that far. #1. Your headline MUST grab attention. Will it make the reader read the next sentence? Does it make them do a "double-take" or exclaim "How is that possible?" #2. It should make a promise, give a benefit, or convey an idea that is appealing to your prospect. The more you know about your target audience/market, the easier it is to grab their attention because you know what their hot buttons are - seriously, we can't stress the importance of market knowledge enough. #3. Here's a quick style tip for you when writing headlines: "For Your Headline You Want To Capitalize The First Letter Of Each Word." We put this small list together for you for one reason - to give you a source of ideas for writing your headlines. The easiest way to come up with a good headline is to sit down and read a large number of successful headlines. The idea here is NOT to steal someone else's words, but to tweak, develop and reword their headline for your business. *See the fill-in-the blank headline samples below for an example of how to tweak these headlines for your business. This can be accomplished in the form of a free report, access to an informational website, a multi-day e-course, a 30 day risk free trial of your product or service, etc… the only limit to this is your imagination and creativity. So, for example, say you were marketing an anti-wrinkle cream. Your LCP's irresistible offer could be for a free report that reveals the "7 Most Common Chemicals Found In Most Anti-Wrinkle Creams That Harm Your Skin!" you can see how the name of your report also plays a huge role in making your offer irresistible. Our advice to you if you are giving away a free report or CD, DVD, whatever... is to think very hard and carefully on what you name it. Think of it as another headline because you really want to grab their attention again and make them want it. Hope that helps. Okay, so far we've talked at length about some of the guidelines when it comes to creating your lead generation marketing and advertising. We've also explored the "PSTM" Marketing Quadrant and why most Networkers fail with their business and why you must focus as much, if not more attention to your Luke warm prospects as you do with your RHP's. And we also looked at how similar sales and marketing is to seduction and the mating game... Plus... we looked at and studied several examples of good and bad marketing. Today, we're going to look at exactly how leads are created. And that will wrap up and mark the end of this mini-course. Hopefully you've gotten lots of value out of it and found it not only informative, but also useful. If so, feel free to say so by clicking on the "comment" button at the bottom of this post. Anyway, without further delay... First, your prospect sees your ad and is interested so they your website. --> This is where a gigantic gaping hole appears in most Networkers marketing funnels. The mistake is NOT sending prospects to a Lead Capture Page (LCP) first. A LCP is a webpage that is SPECIFICALLY designed to gather the contact information of your prospects. When a prospect arrives at your LCP, they are faced with a simple decision: (1) Give you their contact information and they'll gain access to the information that they want. Or (2) leave the page and never get access to the information that they want. Now some people just won't give you their contact information, and that's okay because those aren't the people you're interested in. You're only interested in the prospects who give you their contact information because they've taken another step and further qualified themselves to being a potential buyer or new team member. Essentially, your LCP acts as a "toll booth" between the prospect and the information that they want. Without a LCP acting as your "toll booth", you would never know how many people respond to your marketing. Even worse, you would have no way to follow up with all of those prospects. So your LCP plays a significant role in your success. Not only does it generate leads for you, but it also helps you measure and track your results. Which is a critical component to being successful in marketing and business. If this LCP concept is new to you, hopefully you're starting to understand just how important it is for you to have a LCP for your business. And in case you are wondering, there is a right way and a wrong way to creating successful LCP's. Below you'll find two PDF files that you can download. File #1 is a sample of one of our star student's LCP. Her name is Lone and she lives in France, so please ignore some of the minor grammatical mistakes as English isn't her first language. Regardless, Lone has done a terrific job with her LCP - in fact, after this critique was made, in true champion fashion, she immediately took action on the ideas and has improved her LCP even further and is now enjoying higher "opt-in" rates than before. - Good job Lone! =) ("Opt-in's" is the technical term for prospects who visit your LCP and give you their contact info. They're "opting-in" for more information.) Now when you open the file, you'll notice little yellow circles numbered 1-8. These are the critique points which you'll want to reference in the 2nd PDF file - which is the actual written critique of her LCP. You'll want to print both files so that as you read the critique, you can easily reference the LCP and get a better understanding of how a successful LCP is created. Downloading, printing and studying these two documents will greatly assist you in better understanding how to be successful with your own lead generation efforts. And I don't know about you, but I always understand much more when I can see the ideas and concepts "in action" so to speak. Here's how you should run your business and do your marketing if you want to go broke REAL fast. Do what we call "Voulez-Vous Coucher Avec Moi Ce Soir?" Marketing LITERAL TRANSLATION: "Will You Sleep With Me Tonight?" Now, you may or may not relate to this, but if you speak two or more languages like I (Harun) do. Then no doubt your friends have asked you many times how to say things in the other language. And of course, these sayings are usually R, or XXX rated. For some reason we all tend to get a kick out of only being able to say dirty words in foreign languages -- I'm not sure why this is... But being from Canada, my parents forced me to learn French. Well all of my friends in College who didn't speak French were always asking me how to say things, usually so they could go up to some cute girl at the bar and "wow" them with their "worldliness" and "sophistication" -- (at least in their eyes)... So far, I haven't seen this pick-up line work. Think about it for a second, no girl is going to say yes to a guy she just met and has asked her to sleep with him tonight. That's not how the human mating game works. There's a period of seduction that needs to take place. You didn't just meet your spouse and get married immediately, there was a period of courtship and dating where you took the time to get to know each other on a deeper level (hopefully). So why on earth are you trying to sleep with your prospects from the very minute you meet them? Sales and marketing are strikingly similar to seduction and the mating game. Your prospects not only need to get to know you -- but WANT to get to know you so that they can decide if they like you and then feel comfortable with you, ultimately trusting you enough to buy from you or join your team. What most Networkers call marketing, is really nothing more than going out and asking every cute girl in the club if they'll sleep with them right away. It's a great way to run your business if you enjoy lots of rejection and frustration. Personally I don't care much for either. And that's why you HAVE TO set up a marketing and sales funnel to: (1) Attract the best possible prospects to you. (2) Allow them to get to know, like and trust you. And then.. (3) Let them come to you, credit card in hand wanting to buy your products and services, or join you in your business. Here, let me show you some marketing examples and ads that demonstrate what I'm talking about so that you get a much clearer understanding of this in action. Example #1. ![]() This ad is a perfect example of "Voulez Vous Coucher Avec Moi Ce Soir?" Marketing. It's: Here's the ad, now spend $50 and buy our stuff! There is NO romancing the prospect here -- they are only going after the RHP's. There isn't even an attempt at opening the marketing and sales funnel by collecting the contact information of any interested prospects (Lukes), who stand a very good chance of buying if they're given some more information. Here, you are forcing your prospects into making a commitment/decision with very little information. I don't know how well you can read the ad, but this book is written by Howard Schmidt, who is the Former White House CyberSecurity Advisor and FBI Computer Specialist. Gee, you think prospects would find that good to know? Do you think that that would add credibility to the offer and ease your prospects fears of being ripped off? Of course they would! Talk about INSTANT credibility! It really doesn't get much better than that. They've been handed a golden ticket and they've completely blown it. Because of their short-sightedness - even downright stupidity, they've SEVERELY limited the potential sales and profits that they could have if they'd focus on generating leads and THEN converting those prospects into buyers with follow up communication - INSTEAD of focusing on the RHP's who happen to see their ad that day. With the ever increasing costs to market your business, it is even more important today that you focus on generating leads first -- THEN converting those leads into sales with your follow up communication. Oh, and the headline - "Don't Be a Cyber-Sitting Duck"... Stinks. Plain and Simple. This is a great example of trying to be cute in advertising. See Part 1 of this Mini-Course for my thoughts on that... Ok, let's stop bashing these guys (even though it is a lot of fun) and let's move on to the next marketing example. Example #2. ![]() Okay, NOW we're moving in the right direction with lead generation marketing. This is a great example of the type of advertising you want to do with regards to your business. You've got a great attention getting headline - Seriously, no women who sees this ad is going to pass it up. It's going to instantly draw them in to the ad. Which is another great example of really knowing who your ideal prospect and customer is. If you look carefully, you'll also notice that they give you the option of calling a toll-free 800 number AND a website for more information. The big mistake that they made here was telling prospects that the product is available at JC Penny stores. That gives the prospect the excuse NOT to call or visit the website right now - which is exactly what we don't want to have happen. Remember, given an excuse to put something off - we'll immediately use to justify NOT taking action. The other big mistake in this ad is not having a caption underneath the photo. Believe it or not, but captions are one of THE most highly read part of any ad. Example #3. ![]() Here's another great lead generation ad that I came across in my local paper here in Phoenix several years ago. Great headline that speaks directly to their ideal customer and prospect. Nice and short, with just enough information to get you excited and curious about the solution at the same time. Plus, they give you 2 options to respond to get more information - A toll free 800 number and a website. What makes this ad better than the "Anti-Wrinkle" ad from above is the fact that they are selling you on a free report "How Space Age Technology Is Solving Back Pain Without Drugs or Surgery". Gee, if you've got any back pains, you think that you'd want to get your hands on this report? Of course you would! And here's an advanced marketing tip for you: The free report that you get SELLS you on their solution as being THE absolute best solution to solve all of your back pains. The free "report" is actually a sales pitch disguised as a valuable information rich report. This technique works extremely well for any business and I encourage you to do the same in your business. Incidentally, if while reading through your local newspaper you come across ads like this one, you should make it a point to cut them out and save them as a reference of what other smart marketers in various businesses are doing to generate leads. Your goal is to look at what they're doing and ask yourself how you can implement it into your business. Oh, and you should definitely call their 800 number or visit their website and request their free report or whatever it is that they're offering to get you to respond. You'll learn an awful lot about marketing and sales by following this advice and it won't cost you a penny. Example #4 & 5. ![]() I wanted to include a couple of examples of great marketing from the Internet because I didn't want you to think that these techniques only work in offline media. Here we've got two ads from the same company selling you on a free report or "guide". Again, these free "guides" are nothing more than disguised sales pitches for their products/services. But you can clearly see that if you have any investments, or are planning your retirement, that these two ads would instantly grab your attention and compel you to get more information. Seriously, "What are the 8 investing mistakes that I should avoid this year?" That's a very compelling headline that just FORCES you to read the ad. Stay tuned because in Part 3 of this Mini-Course, we're going to pull aside the curtains and let you in behind the scenes on one of the most important parts of lead generation that so many Networkers unknowingly screw up. This is where most end up literally flushing their money down the drain - much to their frustration simply because they didn't know any better. | Lead Generation Secrets Exposed - Part 1 | |

This post kicks off a three part mini-course on mastering Lead Generation Marketing.

Generating quality leads for your business can be a bit tricky if you are new to business, or have never been shown some of the "tricks of the trade" so to speak. In Lead Generation Marketing (LGM), there are several "guideline rules" that you need to follow if you want to maximize your success and get more leads for your investment. I've listed these guidelines below for your convenience. We strongly recommend that you write them down and refer to them whenever you are working on any LGM adverting pieces. #1. Keep Your Ad Short And To The Point. It’s a teaser, not the "full course meal". Your goal here ISN'T to: (a) Sell them anything, or... (b) Give them all the information #2. Your Ads' Headline Is Like A Beacon Shining In The Dark. The goal with your LGM is to get your prospects to "raise their hands" and ask you to give them more information about your business. In exchange for more information, you will collect their contact information so that you can follow up with them on your terms. #3. People Are Naturally Curious. Use that to your advantage when creating your headline and ads. Think of it as a preview to the main movie. Ideally, you want your prospects to be curious and excited about getting more information. For example, the famous headline "Do You Make These Mistakes In English" compels the reader to read the ad to find out what the mistakes are. #4. Be Interesting. Ideally, you want to jump into the conversation that is already taking place in your prospects head. For example, right now, everyone is talking and worried about the coming recession. So if you want to jump right into the conversation that's on the top of his mind, you would create a headline to that effect. Ex. Let's pretend that we sell some kind of service to local businesses that helps them improve their profits. A great headline idea right now would be something like: "12 Simple Solutions To Recession Proof Your Business" #5. "Let Them Eat Their Cake!" Generally speaking, giving your prospects multiple ways to respond to your ad for more information has been shown to increase response. Keep in mind that everyone has their own preferred method of communicating and gathering information. Some people just want to snoop around on their own terms -- let them! The more they look around, the more they sell themselves on your business. So don't just send people to your website, offer them the choice of calling an 800 number where they can listen to a pre-recorded message for more information. #6. Don't Be Cute Or Funny With Your Advertising. Your goal isn't to make people laugh, your goal is to get leads of qualified people into your marketing funnel who are most likely going to buy or join your team. There is a time and place for humor, just not in LGM. Okay, let's move on and take a "big picture" look at marketing in general and at the "PSTM" formula and how it forms the basis for everything you do marketing-wise in your business. This four part formula forms the basis of all successful marketing for any business. And your business also requires these four things in order to prosper. Once you understand this formula and how simple it is, you'll understand why your marketing hasn't been performing as well as you expected, or wanted it to. Feel free to copy the formula down and paste it to the wall by your computer as a reminder and to help you stay on track. ![]() It's also important that I take a minute and tell you that you must employ all 4 components of the formula. You can't have one without any of the others -- it is a synergistic relationship. There's several ways to screw up the formula: Right Prospect -- Wrong Solution -- Right Timing -- Right Media Right Prospect -- Right Solution -- Wrong Timing -- Right Media Right Prospect -- Right Solution -- Right Timing -- Wrong Media Right Prospect -- Wrong Solution -- Wrong Timing -- Wrong Media Wrong Prospect -- Right Solution -- Right Timing -- Right Media Wrong Prospect -- Right Solution -- Wrong Timing -- Right Media And so on... And of course, here's what most people's marketing plan looks like (can you see why they aren't happy with their advertising and marketing results?)... Wrong Prospect -- Wrong Solution -- Wrong Timing -- Wrong Media There's only one way to get it right: Right Prospect -- Right Solution -- Right Timing -- Right Media Let's explore the "PSTM" Formula further... 1. P - The Right Prospect Here's where 99% of people go wrong. You HAVE to be talking to the RIGHT person. A big mistake that many Networkers make is talking to anyone with a pulse without ever taking a minute to qualify their prospects first. This approach is frustrating, full of rejection and gives you the (wrongful) impression that no one is interested in your products, services or business. Disheartening to say the least. Let's take it a step further with the following example: If you want to be a Rock and Roll star, you don't go to Nashville and play in front of an audience of Country Music Lovers -- That's how you get booed and have beer bottles thrown at you. Yes it's a simplistic example, but it's true, just look at what 99% of Networkers are doing with their marketing. Okay, let's say that you've identified your ideal prospect. Now you've got to get their attention and that involves saying something... 2. S - The Right Solution You've got about 3 seconds to grab your prospects attention. And that's where your ads' headline comes into play. At this point, your prospect doesn't know you from Adam. You've got one chance, better not blow it! So what do you say? Simple, you offer to solve your prospects most nagging and vicious problem that he has -- even if he might not even know about it! This involves finding out what your prospects problems are. And the more research you do into your market, the easier it is to find the problems. Keep in mind that your prospects are only interested in themselves and how your product, service or opportunity can help them solve a problem. So it's important that you talk to them in terms of benefits and results, NOT features, or about you or your company. We'll talk more about benefits and feature in the near future. 3. T - The Right Timing Unfortunately, most of your prospects (95%) will NOT be ready to buy your solution when they first hear about it. But... this doesn't mean that they aren't interested! It just means that they need time to think about it. Which simply means that you have to continue to follow up and share more information and testimonials with them -- continuously encouraging them to give your solution a try. The trick to follow up is simply doing it (on a regular basis) -- this is where the majority of people fail. Whether you follow up by phone, email, newsletter... It doesn't matter, just do something on a set, regular basis and you'll get stellar results! A secret of ultra-achievers is that they use more than one method to follow up with their prospects and customers. They also follow up with their prospects and customers forever. The ugly truth with your business is that you'll make your "now" money from those people who are "Hot" - we call them "Red Hot Prospects" (or RHP's). But you'll make your fortune with your "Not Now" prospects - we call them "Luke Warm" Prospects (or 'Lukes'). If you only focus on the RHP's, you'll never get into a position of leverage or momentum with your business because the RHP's only consist of 1-5% of your prospects (at most). So while most people focus on the now and the RHP's, they're actually hurting their businesses long-term potential because they're not spending any time or resources nurturing the 95% of prospects who, given some more information, a testimonial or two, perhaps even a special "getting started" offer -- would indeed buy or join your team. We've had prospects who had requested more information about our products make their first purchase from us two years AFTER their original request! And that's why we're fanatical preachers of follow up, ESPECIALLY automated follow up through email. ![]() Here you're only focusing on the 1-5% of people who are ready to buy or join your team RIGHT NOW. As you can see, the result is that you SEVERELY lower your profits - but even worse, it becomes almost impossible to gain momentum or leverage in your business. ![]() Because you're following up with more people (the Lukes VASTLY outnumber the RHP's), and you take the time to build a relationship with your 'Lukes', they begin to (1) Know, (2) Like and eventually (3) Trust you -- which naturally leads to them buying or joining your team. Following-up with your prospects not only gives your business higher profits, but also makes it much easier (and faster) for you to hit a point of momentum, leverage and explosive growth in your business. 4. M - The Right Media When we talk about "media", we're really talking about any type of "Marketing Medium" used to communicate with your prospects. The newspaper, Internet, Radio, TV, Flyer, CD, DVD, etc... are all examples of "Marketing Mediums" you can use to share your advertising message/solution with prospects. Basically, it's the way you advertise and connect with your prospects. But what is more important to know is that everybody has what's called: a primary learning "Modality" -- this is just a fancy term educators use to say that people learn in different ways. Some people are auditory - they learn best by hearing the information. Others are visual - they learn best by seeing/reading. And still others learn best by doing - they're called Kinesthetic learners. If you have a friend who is self-taught at playing the guitar, it's quite likely that their primary learning modality is auditory. Many musicians are auditory learners. Everyone uses all three learning modalities, but we all have one that is our primary modality which we use to learn faster and retain more information easier. And that's why when you are engaged through your primary learning modality, you find it much easier and more fun to learn the material or remember the message. That's why it's important to put your message into multiple "Media" formats for your prospects -- because you don't know which modality they prefer. So turn your message into: Articles, free reports, videos, tele-seminars, CD's, DVD's etc... When you use all four elements of the "PSTM" Formula, you'll hit massive home runs with your business. Here's the formula once more for you: "PSTM" = Success, Massive Moolah, Freedom and NO JOB! | Is it time to wash your brain? | |

Last night I (Harun) went to a business meeting and had the very good fortune to meet and hear a very successful businessman not only tell his story of success, but also explain in detail how he programmed his mind for success.
But what really interested and fascinated me was the way he outlined his techniques and method for programming his mind for success. If you're a big fan of success principles such as those found in Napoleon Hill's book "Think and Grow Rich" and in "Psycho-Cybernetics" by Dr. Maxwell Maltz... Then you know all about programming your mind for success. What follows is one the best explanations and outlines I've come across for programming your mind for success. Step 1. First, it's important to sit down and decide what you want to achieve. So, what is your vision? What are your goals? Now we've all heard that before. But here's where it gets interesting... Okay, so you've written down your goals and your vision. And if you're like most people, you're probably sitting there looking at them and thinking to yourself: "How in the world am I going to do this?.." And that's when your brain begins to go into "fear" mode and starts to come up with all kinds of excuses as to why you can't achieve your goals or dreams. This is actually a natural and normal reaction - so just go with the flow and let it happen. Step 2. Take another sheet of paper and write down a list of 10-20 "reasons" why you can't achieve your goals. That's right, we're going to make a list of all the reasons why you "can't" achieve your goals. Kinda odd huh? But stay with me here and I'll explain why this is important in just a minute... Now, when writing out your reasons to "fail" -- nothing is too outrageous or dumb here. Just write it all down and don't censor yourself. Allow your mind to "spill its guts" and give you every reason why you'll fail. Okay, now that you've written down every single reason why you can't achieve your goals, what we're going to do next is take all those excuses and use them to move forward and achieve your goals. Step 3. Now I bet that one of your excuses as to why you would fail was either (A) You don't know where to start or (B) You don't know how to do whatever it is that you want to achieve. And that's okay because again, that's a natural reaction that EVERYONE gets - ESPECIALLY if it is something new that you are trying to do or achieve. So here's what you want to do... Q#1. "Who is doing this successfully?" Q#2. "What is the first thing that I need to know in order to move forward?" Q#3. "Where can I go to find out more information?" Q#4. "What skills will I need?" What you're looking for are ideas, ways and questions so that you start looking at your "problem/challenge" from a position of "how to solve it" instead of being defeated like your brain is trying to trick you into thinking. If you wake up in the morning and all you look at are the problems and reasons why you'll fail, then that's all your mind will perceive and focus on. However, if, on the other hand, you train your mind to look for the opportunity to succeed and overcome the problem (and there's a solution to EVERY problem)... Then your mind becomes programmed to automatically think "How CAN I solve this? How can I get this done?"... And when your mind looks for solutions, it will find them. You've already experienced this before in your life. Just think of a time when you were faced with a seemingly "impossible" task or problem but managed to solve. This technique allows you to start fresh and be open to looking for creative ways to solve your problems and eventually reach your goals. 1. Research: - Take every reason why you can't succeed and turn them into questions and points to start your research with. (See step 2 and 3 above) (which brings you to) 2. Knowledge - Your research will give you knowledge, understanding and clarity. (which brings you to) 3. Confidence - The more knowledge, understanding and clarity you have of how to reach your goal, the more confidence you'll gain to achieve your vision. (which brings you to) 4. Creativity - With the right knowledge, understanding, clarity and confidence in yourself - you will naturally be prompted into creating a plan of action. (which brings you to) 5. Execution - And with your plan of action in place and the confidence in yourself to succeed and reach your goals, all you have to do next is execute your plan. Which becomes easy and fun to do because it's what you WANT to do. (which brings you to) 6. Success - By taking consistent action on your vision and goals, you'll eventually reach them and achieve what you defined as success. Also, there are a few other steps and points that are equally important in programming of your mind for success: - It's absolutely critical to define and be specific with your goals. You want to be able to measure your progress and know if you are getting closer or further away from them. Also, if you don't define and specify your goals, how will you know if and when you reach them? (A) Don't be afraid to share your vision and goals with others. (B) And don't be afraid to ask questions or ask for help from others. (C) Always look for the opportunity in the challenge or obstacle. ie. Look for a way to make it happen and make it successful. (D) Stop beating yourself up if you don't/haven't reached your goals. (E) Create a vision of yourself. What type of person do you want to be? Then monitor every activity and ask yourself: "Is this consistent with the new me?" "Is this getting me towards my goals?" If the activity isn't consistent with the "new you", don't do it. .... There you have it. A clear, concise, easy to understand step-by-step process outlined so that you can quickly and easily program your mind for success. Before I end this, I want to point out a couple of crucial points in this article that I don't want you to miss. Takeaway #1. This goes beyond the simple "feel good" concept of "thinking positive" and good things will happen traditional school of thought preached by countless "Guru's" and trainers. For good things to happen, YOU must get out there and create the opportunity for them to happen. The process outlined in this article will assist you in creating a mentality that is geared towards a positive outlook and actively looking for solutions to your problems. Very different from "thinking positive". Takeaway #2. Don't just read this article. Actively participate and DO the steps. If you haven't made your plans for 2008, then you've planned to fail. Simple as that. Print this out if you have to and create your goals, vision and your plan of action. Takeaway #3. Stop beating yourself up if you haven't reached your goals that you've set for yourself in the past. Success DOESN'T come in a straight line. It's a crazy path that zig zags all over the place. So don't stress out about it. Just refocus and get clear on your objectives and goals and start again. Takeaway #4. Be open minded, practical and honest with yourself. If you haven't achieved the level of success you want, then look within yourself for the answer and find out what the missing ingredient is. (See #5 below). Takeaway #5. No matter what you want to achieve in life, there will be certain skills that you'll need to possess that you probably don't have right now. Understand and acknowledge this, and set out to gain those skills. Just a quick note today to let you know that I (Harun) have been working on a brand new, hard-hitting (Josh says "Scathing and downright offensive") special report.
I'm not going to reveal much right now as I'm almost done and I figured I'd just let you read it and judge for yourself. But what I will tell you is that if you are easily offended, or don't like blunt and somewhat offensive language (I REALLY let fly on this one 'cuz I was downright angry when I sat down and wrote this) - then quite frankly, this report WILL OFFEND YOU from the get-go. To give you an idea of just how blunt I was with this report, it's titled: "Shameless, Two-Faced S.O.B.s!" And if you're open-minded, can ignore and see and read past the "flowery" language, then I think you'll really like this report as it offer some important and valuable information. But that's all I'm going to say for now. I am 98% done and just couldn't contain my excitement any longer and had to tell someone about it. I should be completely done before I go to bed tonight and will hopefully release this new report tomorrow. Of course, it's always the last little bit that takes the longest, so it may not get released until Saturday. First, we want to answer a couple of questions that were submitted from new members. Samantha asks: "My biggest problem is getting them to sign on the dotted line. I make the calls, send them to the web site. Then I can never reach them to sign up? Why? After talking to them three or four times then I lose them. I would love to know how to sign them up every time." -Samantha C., Great question(s) Samantha, thanks for asking. #1. It sounds to me that if you are sending people to your website and then can't reach them afterwards, then, in all likelyhood they weren't the right person or a qualified buyer of your product/service in the first place -- and you probably shouldn't have even been wasting time talking with them. Also, you must learn how to "hook" your prospects and really catch their attention - the goal here is to get your prospect excited so that they WANT to talk to you EVEN after they've looked at your business and gone through your sales process. Now a couple of important questions for you to answer: (A) Where are you getting your leads from? (B) What are the minimum qualifications your prospects must meet in order to move into the "qualified" prospect category? - and "having a pulse" doesn't count! (C) Why are you calling people and bringing them to your website? Very few sites are designed for that. #2. If you are talking to people 3 or 4 times and are then "losing" them, then it sounds to me like you are having trouble "pulling the trigger" and recruiting them into your business. This is a common problem even among "professional" salesmen. In fact you'd be surprised how fast you can become one of the top salesmen/recruiters in any organization/business just by asking for the order once every time you speak with a prospect. Of course, to reach the top you also have to learn how to overcome your prospects objections and help them make the decision that's best for them. Which, if you're talking to TRULY qualified prospects, then the solution that's best for them is to buy your product/service or join your business. Now a bit of "harsh" reality that you must be aware of (and be okay with) - it is impossible to recruit/sell 100% of the people you talk to. NO MATTER how good your leads are. Okay, let's talk a little bit about your fear of "pulling the trigger" and recruiting people. This is a common fear among many people. The reasons are numerous and varied - for some, it's a fear of failure, or the fear of being rejected, even the fear of success stops people in their tracks. The only way you'll ever be able to overcome your resistance is to practice your "closing" statements until they become second nature and just roll off of the tongue. Closing statements are exactly what they sound like - statements that get your prospect to commit to buying or getting started. Here's a couple of examples that we've used succesfully for years to help you get started: "So NAME, what credit card did you want to use to get started today - Visa, MasterCard, Amex, or Discover?" "...NAME, on your registration, how do you want your name to appear?" Practicing and using these closing statements in your presentations will give you a boost of confidence when speaking with prospects. Plus, they work! So you'll also enjoy the sweet taste of victory in selling your product/service and in recruiting people to your team. Dealing with the same topic, Guevara B. asks: "I am a beginner in M L M and I feel that "warm" contacts are limited and prefer to cold call -I would like to know the best approach to making contacts, leads - what are the best options. Guevara, you are right in your assessment of "warm" contacts being limited. In fact, talking to your friends, family and co-workers with the intent of recruiting them IS a complete waste of time because you are selling them the idea of financial freedom and wealth - which is already a hard sell. Now imagine how much harder it becomes when you aren't rich and your friends and family all know it. Be a friend and DON'T bug your friends and family about your business. What you really want to do is market and promote your business to attract the right people to you because... #1. You need a never-ending supply of leads (people to talk to) - If you're going to cold call, buy the cheapest, oldest leads you can get your hands on. #2. When talking to people (cold or warm) you need a way to sift and sort through your leads and qualify people as fast as possible. If you've got the FirePower Marketing system, this is talked about under "power questions". If you don't have a copy of the MLM FirePower Manual, you can get it HERE. Next... #3. Assuming that your prospect passes your Power Question, you must then put them through a sales process that explains the benefits of your products/services and business opportunity. This can take many forms - tele-seminars, webinars, hotel or in-home presentation etc... #4. After they've gone through your sales process, you then need to collect decisions on trying the product or service and whether or not they want to get involved in the business with you. This is done much easier and naturally if you set up the "close" and the follow up call in the beginning just before you let them go through your sales process. Of course, this step will be look a little different depending on your business and how its set up. Larry H. recently asked us a great question that is pertinent to today's topic. Larry asked: "How do I get out of my nervousness of contacting potential business opportunity seekers?" The answer is simple - you pick up the phone and dial your first number and just do it. After you've done this 21 times, you'll be well on your way to conquering your nervousness of calling prospects. Remember, it's just like calling a friend. There is NOTHING TO FEAR - at worst they'll cuss you out (depending on your lead source, you can expect about 2 people out of 100 will be having a terrible day and take it out on you if you're cold calling -- this rarely ever happens when calling warm leads that specifically asked you for more information). And at best, they'll be excited and happy that you called. If you do your marketing right, you'll have this happen nearly all the time. It's important that you remember that you have a business opportunity that has the very real chance to change their entire life for the better and in a very short period of time. But if you never pick up the phone, you'll never be able to help them change their life - or your own...
